Here are your updates for the week ending on Friday, September 23, 2022…

ACS Athletics Update: 

Congratulations to all our ACS athletes participating in the fall season.  Come on out and cheer the teams on for the final stretch of the season.  Tournament games will start on Wednesday, October 12 for the 7th and 8th grade teams. The Athletic calendar for each sport is located on the ACS website at  https://acsphx.org/athletics/

Current ACS TEAM STATS: 

5/6 grade boys flag football team is 5-0 

5/6 grade girls volleyball is 3-1

7 grade girls volleyball is 2-0

8 grade girls volleyball is 2-0

What’s Happening?

September 26:  Order Now: Source & Summit Missal for 2023. If you would like your own copies, please contact Mark at music@stgacc.org or call the parish office. Please consider a $10 donation to cover the costs of each copy. 

September 29, 30, Th-Fri:  Middle School Conferences.  Parent Letter and sign up genius sent separately.  No school for MS students.  Full day for K-5 grades.

October 1, Saturday:  ACS fundraiser with Harold’s-Oktoberfest.   ACS will earn money for each ticket purchased with our QR code. This is an adult only event, so plan your next date night and help support our school at the same time.  Please spread the word…our school gets credit for each ticket sold with our unique QR code. 

October 3, Monday:   Monthly Rosary – Luminous Mysteries led by the 7th grade in the church at 2:20pm.  All are welcome.

October 7, Friday:  Educator’s Day.  No school for students.

October 9, Sunday:  ACS Family Mass at 10:30am.  Students in their school uniform may have free dress on Tuesday.  Please adhere to the school guidelines in the Non-uniform dress.  All are welcome.

October 10, Monday:  Fall break.  No school.

October 16, Sunday:  Arizona Rosary Celebration.  rosary and Benediction with Bishop Thomas Olmsted.  Location:  Phoenix Convention Center South building, Halls F & G 33 S. 3rd St. Phoenix, Az 85004  Confession, adoration and exhibits also available.  2:00 – 4:15pm

Future Happenings:

October 19, 2022, Wednesday – Fun Run – Get Ready for the ACS Grand Land Adventure Glow Run!

On your mark, get set, GLOW!  ACS student runners, walkers, skippers, and jumpers will participate in a fun-filled event with glow necklaces, black lights, and great music in the St. Gabriel Parish Hall on October 19, for the GRAND LAND ADVENTURE GLOW RUN.  This year’s character-themed glow run will give our students a look at several national parks while they learn about Gratitude, Stewardship, Bravery, Perseverance, and Wonder.  The FunD Angels are working hard to make sure this year’s event is a blast!  Look for volunteer opportunities in Mobileserve soon. See attached business sponsorship form for more details on ways you can support our school. Deadline for business sponsorship is Friday, September 30.  

October 22, Saturday: St. Gabriel Fall Festival.  Come for food, music and fellowship.  Adult dinner $15, Students (15 and under) $5.  See attached flyer.

October 28, 2022, Friday: Trunk or Treat

The annual Trunk or Treat will be on Friday, October 28, 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Get ready to decorate your trunks and hand out yummy treats!  Reserved parking spaces will go on sale during the first week of October. Look for the link and more information to come in the Friday updates.

October 30 – November 4 – Book Fair – Reading is Dino-Mite! 

The Dino-Mite Book Fair is here and we’re ready to STOMP, CHOMP and READ! Error! Filename not specified.Error! Filename not specified.Error! Filename not specified.

Bring your Mighty STAR readers to the book fair to pick out a new favorite book.  Many new titles and authors to choose from at the ACS Book Fair!  ACS Angels will get to experience the magic of the onsite school shopping experience by discovering new authors and picking up some awesome trinkets.  Every dollar you spend will benefit our school by 75%.  

October (for the month of) Pinks Moving Company will give back to ACS 10% from any booking during October when they mention the code PINKS31. Please see the attached flyer.

Volunteer Opportunities

ACS Volunteers:  We appreciate all of our ACS volunteers.   

  • Complete your Safe Environment Training with  CMGconnect .   All training is online – renewal (Online Renewal for Lay Persons -Safe Haven Part 3) and 1st time volunteers: Online Foundation Training Safe Haven-It’s Up to You.  Instructions are attached.   Your safe environment training must be completed prior to volunteering on campus. Please complete it as soon as possible.   
  • MobileServe App is used to track all volunteer hours.  Parents, please create an account.  Instructions are attached. With your account, you’ll be able to view and sign up for events at the school.  View and join the volunteer opportunities that are available.  Thank you for being part of the ACS Community.  URGENT: We need volunteers for lunch duty for September 26 -30!  Lunchtime is an easy way to volunteer, meet new friends and see your student!  Plus, we need your help!  Please sign up to volunteer for Lunch Duty in September.
