Weekly Update – Friday, September 15, 2023

Hello ACS Families,

Here are your updates for the week ending on Friday, September 15, 2023…

The 8th grade class thanks all of the students and staff who participated in our free dress fundraiser today. They collected $245 which will go towards the cost of their class grade trip.

STREAM NEWS

Last Friday we were STREAMING all day! Our 1-2nd engineers built the tallest structure possible using marshmallows and toothpicks.  They learned which shapes are the strongest when building. Our 3-5th engineers, as well as our Kindergarten engineers, who teamed up with their 8th grade buddies, participated in our Spaghetti Tower Challenge. Teams had to build the tallest structure possible using spaghetti sticks and tape all while balancing a marshmallow on top.  We started with these challenges because they both emphasized teamwork and communication which is one of the most important concepts of the Engineering Design Process.

Tonight, after dinner, I invite your family to take a step outside and look towards the West at 7:28PM. For about 6 minutes, you will see a bright, non-blinking light, move across the sky and disappear in the NE. That is the International Space Station! Try to get a selfie with it and share!
