Weekly Update – Friday, August 4, 2023

Dear ACS parents,
We are excited to welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 school year!

Here are some important things to know for the first week of school…

  • We begin with our open house on Monday, August 7, from 1 – 4 PM. All are welcome to come meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and visit with friends old and new!
  • Open House is followed by the New Family Orientation and Dinner in the parish hall from 4:30 to 6PM. New families please RSVP if you haven’t already!

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 9.  The doors open for students at 7:45AM. Students must be in their classrooms by 8AM. Early dismissal at 12PM.

  • Please be patient in the parking lot. All vehicles must enter the campus from Cave Creek Rd, and exit via Rancho Paloma for both drop off and pickup. The first day is unusually busy so watch for pedestrians!
  • Only Kinder parents are invited to enter the school gates to walk their students to the classroom door. This is not mandatory, but we know it is a big moment for some families. Ms. Miley has sent an email to the Kinder parents with instructions for a successful first day drop-off.
  • We will have older students available to assist our younger students to class if needed.
  • Please have your student bring the required school supplies. If you haven’t purchased your school supplies you can find the list on our website https://acsphx.org/student-supply-lists/.
  • Opening day Community Prayer is in the parish hall at 8:10AM. All are welcome to attend! Please do not attempt to park in the drop-off parking lot next to the school playground. If you are unsure of where to go please ask a staff member.
  • No lunch needed on the first day. Please pack a healthy snack and full water bottle. Put your child’s name on both! (No juice boxes, no soda, no energy drinks, etc. Water only!) Lunch service begins on Thursday, here is the link to learn about Dishes2U or feel free to pack a healthy lunch for your student.
  • There is no aftercare on early dismissal days. Aftercare will begin on Thursday, August 10. Follow the link to register and learn more about our aftercare program. There is no morning care at this time.
  • Dismissal begins at 12PM. Do not come early as that will cause the line to back up onto Cave Creek Road! Take your time getting here to avoid creating a long line.
  • Pickup lines: If you are picking up students in Kinder – 5th grade use the right lane. All middle school students and their younger siblings in K-5 will be picked up from the left lane in front of the Youth Center. Watch for traffic cones and staff instructions please.
  • Go celebrate the first day of school with a visit to Cherry on Top and Rubio’s for our first Dine Out Fundraiser!
  • Sign up for Flocknotes to get all the news about our school events and learn about our fantastic Partners in Education!

Enjoy your weekend!
