Weekly Update – Friday, May 5, 2023

Hello ACS Families,

Here are your updates for the week ending on Friday, May 5, 2023.

What’s Happening?

May 7 (Sunday): Final day for the VIBRANT VINNIES FOOD DRIVE:  Please help us in supporting St Vincent de Paul by bringing in canned food items. All NON-PERISHABLE food items are appreciated! However, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, and pasta and pasta sauce are always greatly appreciated.  As the summer months approach food stores such as Fry’s, Safeway, and Walmart will cut back on their food inventories, which in turn reduces their food donations to the Foothills Food Bank, in Cave Creek. To offset this, Annunciation School, SVdP, and the KofC will combine efforts and conduct a food driveThe purpose is to replenish those lowering food levels, which in turn are allocated for “those in need”.

May 10 (Wednesday): ACS Spring Concert at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Student attire is guys in ties and girls in their Sunday best. Students please arrive by 6:10 pm. It will be a packed house!

May 11 (Thursday):

  • Last Free Dress of the year –  $1 donation to dress out of uniform (but within school guidelines for free dress) Donations will help cover the cost of the 8th grade trip. Thank you to all who participated in the free dress days. Your support made this special event for our 8th graders a reality. Thank you!
  • Dr. Lisa Strohman will be here to speak with our students in grades 5 – 8 about social media/online safety. 1 p.m. in the parish hall

May 12 (Friday):

  • School Mass at 8:15 celebrating our 8th grade graduates! This day will be the 8th graders last day of class before their graduation.Come and pray with us!
  • End of Year Pep Rally of the year celebrating our 8th graders!
  • 8th grade luncheon. (This is for the 8th grade students and the middle school teachers only).

Sacrament Formation

All ACS students who desire to receive their sacraments must attend the sacrament formation offered through their home parish. This is a requirement of the Diocese of Phoenix for all school children as noted in your School Handbook.

If your child still has sacraments they need to complete, and they are a parishioner of St. Gabriel parish, they will need to register for sacrament formation through St. Gabriel.

Sacrament Formation at St. Gabriel Parish is a 3-year program (beginning in 1st grade). The children meet once a week from September-May. The days/times offered for next year are listed on the website as well as the Sacrament Prep calendar for next year.  Please view the Child Sacrament Formation page on the St. Gabriel website:  https://stgacc.org/sacramental-prep  (registration available in late May)    Kira Mello  childfaith@stgacc.org
