Here are your Updates for the week ending on Friday, September 18, 2020

What’s Happening?

September 21, Monday: Support 8th grade Grand Canyon Trip with a minimum donation of $1 for Free dress day. Students must adhere to the uniform policy for non uniform dress. View the student handbook for the uniform policy.

September 22, Tuesday: American Heritage Girls Troop AZ0015 informational/registration night. Meet in the K3 at 5:30p.m.-7:30p.m. Open to girls 5 years old and in Kindergarten – high school. AHG is a faith based character development program. Our emphasis is on: faith, leadership, social & emotional, outdoors, citizenship and life skills. Parents and girls are invited to be a part of our AHG Family! Come tonight to meet AHGirls and hear our plans for this year.

September 23, Wednesday: Chess club begins after school at 3:10 p.m. – 4:10 p.m. See the attached flyer for registration information.

September 24, Thursday: 8th Grade Parent Meeting – Everything 8th grade such as HSPT, process and admissions to high school, 8th grade graduation and much more. RSVP your attendance to office@acsphx.org.

September 24, 25, (Thursday, Friday) CHANGE: both now full days of school. Teacher Conferences rescheduled to

October 22:Noon dismissal K-5. No school for MS. MS conferences all day. K-5 conferences in PM.

October 23 No school K-8. Conferences all day. Conference day/time will

September 28, Monday: Community Prayer led by 8th grade. More details to come.

September 29, Tuesday: Family Dine out Fundraiser: Chipotle 5355 E Carefree Hwy Building E Cave Creek, AZ 85331. For take out and dine in.

September 30, Wednesday: Picture Day. All students in full ACS uniform, blue polo. Girls in K-3 may wear the jumper with the white peter pan blouse, 8th grade light blue polo. Only approved hair accessories. Please review the student handbook for the uniform policy.

September 30, Wednesday: Student Council speeches and elections. Grades 4 – 8 will vote.

October 18 ACS Family Mass 8:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Students in uniform may have free dress on Monday. All are welcome.

ACTION NEEDED: Important Information:

  • Receipt and Acknowledgement of the Annunciation Catholic School Handbook 2020-2021, (Copy attached. This form only needs to be submitted once.)
  • Symptom Screening checklist: Parents need to complete a checklist for each student to hand to a staff member at drop off in the morning. Please print the attached symptoms checklist. If you need the school to supply hard copies, just contact the front office.
  • Private Affidavit (new students only) and Transportation of Minor(all students) forms need to be notarized. Original documents need to be dropped off to the office. The forms are attached for your convenience.
  • All students that require Epipens and/or Inhaler should bring one (labeled with your child’s name) to school with appropriate paperwork. K-5 students epipens will be stored in classroom first aid kits. 6-8 must carry their epipens/inhalers with them at all times. Follow this link for all health related forms.

Volunteer Opportunities

ACS Volunteers: We appreciate all of our ACS volunteers.

  • Complete your Safe Environment Training with CMGconnect . Renewal SET curriculum is 2020-2021 Online Renewal. Your user name format is firstname.lastname.dop. The initial foundation class for first time volunteers is also on line this year; curriculum is 2020-2021 Initial Foundation Instructions are attached. Your safe environment training must be complete prior to volunteering on campus.
  • We are using Mobileserve (new this year) to track all volunteer hours. Parents please create an account. Instructions are attached.
  • Lunch duty-September has open slots. Please sign up for Lunch Duty via Mobile Serve – 9/21, 22 2 open slots each. Thank you for your assistance.
  • View and join the volunteer opportunities that are available. Thank you for being part of the ACS Community.

Catholic Identity Committee

The vision of the Catholic Identity Committee is to promote and enrich Catholic values, while supporting families and faculty in their efforts to instill a deep love and reverence for our faith in children who attend ACS.

Vibrant Vinnies

Annunciation Catholic School Vibrant Vinnies is an official part of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul under the leadership of the Diocesan Council of Phoenix and the Elizabeth Ann Seton (District Eleven) Council. We were founded in 2013 and officially aggregated in 2017. Learn more about the Vibrant Vinnies here. Students in 5th – 8th grade are welcome to apply. To join the Vibrant Vinnie’s complete the registration form and return it to the school office no later than October 1, 2020 no late registrations will be accepted.

Opening meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 3:15pm-4:15 pm on ACS campus (room location TBD).

FUN RUN=ROCKtober Dance Challenge!

Ready set go! We are excited to share a quick 30 second video to preview what is coming to ACS on October 7! Click ACS ROCKtober Dance Challenge! Because we know how excited you all are to get started, we are going to open our pledge site to get early registrations on Wednesday, September 23. Help us reach our $50,000 goal to bridge the tuition gap and maintain health and safety essentials on campus. Your involvement starts with simply registering your student and SHARE the link with friends and extended family online at funrun.com. As a reminder this is our most successful fundraiser with 67% of the donations coming from friends and extended family members. Just as we worked to safely begin school this year, we are also safely hosting this essential fundraiser based on our schools current guidelines. Our goal is to rally together by having a lot of fun while helping our school. We will send more details as we get closer to our kick off.
