Here are your Friday updates for today, November 15, 2024…

Thank you to Chelsea Cordell and all who helped handle all of our hospitality needs for our accreditation week. She did an amazing job providing meals to the team and a beautiful dinner for the team and the Advisory board. We appreciate all the donations made toward this effort. We thank all of our Advisory Board and our P.I.E. leaders for their participation as well. We are grateful for your commitment and dedication to our school.

Friday, Nov. 15: 

  • Early dismissal at 12pm, no lunch, no aftercare. 
  • Accreditation final report review at 1pm in the parish hall. 

Saturday, Nov. 16: ACS family Mass at 4:30pm. Students in full uniform please. We hope to see everyone there!

Mon. – Fri., Nov. 18 – 22: National Junior Honor Society Caring Coins Service Project benefitting St. Vincent de Paul Society. See which coins to bring each day this week!

Tuesday, Nov. 19: Afterschool Movie! The original Wizard of Oz from 3:15 – 5pm in the parish hall. $5 per student billed to your Blackbaud Tuition account. Snack provided. Click this link to Sign up for the movie!

Thurs. – Sat., Nov. 21-23: Come support the arts and our ACS alumni (Zariah Garcia, ’21, Rachel Hauer ’21, Lucia Garcia ’24) in the production of “Life is a Dream” at St. Mary’s Catholic High School,  2525 N 3rd St, Phoenix, AZ 85004.  (Best to enter off of 7th St (south of Thomas Rd) and St. Mary’s Way.) Monday/Tuesday, Nov. 25/26: Student auditions for the school musical “The Wizard of Oz”. All students (especially our middle school students) are encouraged to audition and be part of this fun production which will take place in March. Auditions on Monday from 3-6pm in the parish hall. Tuesday, Nov. 26: 

  • Student and staff Thanksgiving feast. Send a packed lunch if your child doesn’t enjoy Thanksgiving fare. 
  • 2:20pm join us for Community Prayer in the parish hall,  led by the 5th grade.

Wed. – Fri., Nov. 27 – 29: Thanksgiving break! No school. 

Coming Up

Wednesday, Dec. 4: Mock interviews for 8th grade students. Students will participate in mock interviews in preparation for high school. 

Thursday, Dec. 5: Arizona Tuition Connection scholarship info session will be held on the  2nd floor of the adult formation building (parish admin). Learn about the tuition tax credit scholarship, how to cover the cost of tuition, and how it relates to ESA. If you can’t make the December date, they will be back Jan 16, Feb. 13 and March 11.  

Monday, Dec. 9: Holy day of obligation, Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Mass at 8:15am. Students will not attend Wednesday Mass.

Wed., Dec. 11: Picture retakes with Dorian Studios. Picture day attire required.  Please email the office if you wish to have your student’s picture retaken.

Wed, Dec. 11, 6:30-7:30 Digital Safety Parent Presentation by Dr.Lisa Strohman, online safety expert. Help learn how to keep your child safe online.  Held in the 2nd floor of the adult faith formation building (parish office), in the Mary, Mother of God room. 

Thurs. Dec. 19: ACS Christmas Concert at 6:30pm in the church. Girls in modest Christmas attire and guys in ties please. (Modest = no high heels, no strapless/spaghetti straps, mini length, form fitting, etc.)

Fri., Dec. 20: Early dismissal at 12pm No lunch, no aftercare.

Aftercare

Aftercare is available each full school day (not on half days) until 5:30pm  The cost is $10 per day per student. Students must be picked up by 5:30pm or you will be charged a late fee of $25. See our website for Extended Care information. 

WE NEED YOU!

Safe Environment Training:  To volunteer on campus or ACS events, each volunteer must complete the Safe Environment Training (SET).  Please go to CMGConnect.  Complete the training, Foundation Online for new volunteers and Renewal for Lay People for returning volunteers.

Volunteerism is the backbone of our school community. We need your help especially for lunch/recess, field trips, and school events.

To fulfill your service agreement please visit our Volunteer Info webpage to learn how to start/renew your Volunteer Certification and learn how to download the MobileServe App to volunteer and to record your service hours. 

Volunteer Opportunities

ACS Volunteers: We appreciate all of our ACS volunteers.   

  • Help Needed – Volunteers for lunch duty needed for the month of November. Visit MobileServe to sign up and enter your service hours. Your help is needed so please come when you can. Lunchtime is an easy way to volunteer, meet new friends and see your student!
