Weekly Update – Friday, September 20, 2024

Dear ACS families,

We are so thankful to all who were able to support and volunteer for our Aqua Fun Run which took place today. Your participation is what makes our school community thrive. Our students had a great time too! We are very blessed and give thanks to God for all He bestows upon us.

Here are your Friday updates for today, September 20, 2024…

What’s Happening?

Tuesday, Sept. 24:  Community Prayer at 2:20pm led by 7th grade in the Parish Hall.  Parents are welcome to attend. Next Community Prayer events are on Oct. 29 and Nov. 26. 

Thursday, Friday, Sept. 26 &  27: Parent Teacher Conferences, No School. All K- 5 conferences will be in the student’s classroom. Middle school conferences on Thursday will be in the parish hall, Friday middle school conferences will be in the youth center/school library (old ACS K-3). The Signup Genius email went out last week so be sure to book your conference! Any questions, please contact your homeroom teacher.

Friday, Sept. 27: Catholic Night with the AZ Diamondbacks! Game time is 6:40pm. $5 from every ticket goes to the Diocese of Phoenix Catholic Schools Support 365 program.

Coming up!

Wednesday, Oct. 2: Student and class pictures by Dorian Studios. 9:15 – noon. Students in full uniform. K-7 students must wear blue school polo. Girls wearing the plaid jumper must wear the white peter pan collared shirt. 8th graders please wear your light blue school polo.  Order information coming soon!

Monday, Oct. 7: Come join us for our first ever Garden Party in the campus garden at 5:30pm located behind the Youth Center. Adults only please. There will be hors d’ oeuvres, wine, and lemonade. Please RSVP by Sept. 30.

Thursday, Oct. 10:  Noon Dismissal. Staff development meeting.

Friday, Monday, Oct. 11 & 14: No School.  Educator’s Day for teachers at the diocese and Columbus Day, respectively.

Saturday, Oct. 26:  Trunk or Treat.  Details coming soon.

After School Clubs: From 3:10 – 4:10 pm

Monday: Tippie Toes Dance hip hop and jazz.  $75 per month. Starting in September.

Wednesday: Chess Club with Chess Emporium

Other Fun Activities!

American Heritage Girls. All girls in grades K -12 are welcome. Service, Faith and Fun! 1st and 3rd Tuesday every month, 5:30pm – 7pm in Parish Hall. Next meeting is Tuesday, September 3..

Cactus Foothills Little League – Baseball, Softball and T-Ball! Ages 4-14. Visit www.cactusfoothills.com to register!

Violin lessons: If you are interested in your child receiving private violin lessons, Miss Bernadette Smith (parish music director)can provide them during recess or after school. Miss Smith is an ESA approved vendor, which means you may use ESA funds to pay for lessons. She can be reached at music@stgacc.org

Aftercare

Aftercare is available each full school day(not on half days) until 5:30pm  The cost is $10 per day per student. Students must be picked up by 5:30pm or you will be charged a late fee of $25. See our website for Extended Care information. 

WE NEED YOU!

Safe Environment Training:  To volunteer on campus or ACS events, each volunteer must complete the Safe Environment Training (SET).  Please go to CMGConnect.  Complete the training, Foundation Online for new volunteers and Renewal for Lay People for returning volunteers.

Volunteerism is the backbone of our school community. We need your help especially for lunch/recess, field trips, and school events.

To fulfill your service agreement please visit our Volunteer Info webpage to learn how to start/renew your Volunteer Certification and learn how to download the MobileServe App to volunteer and to record your service hours. 

Volunteer Opportunities

ACS Volunteers: We appreciate all of our ACS volunteers.   Help Needed – Volunteers for lunch duty needed for the month of September.. Lunch duty opportunities are available at MobileServe. Lunchtime is an easy way to volunteer, meet new friends and see your student!  Plus, we need your help!
